Hello!
My name is Sara, and I am a student in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program at Yorkville University, as well as a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Before stepping into the world of counselling, I spent 15 years in education, both as a teacher and an Instructional Coach. My classroom experience has shaped how I support teens today, especially when it comes to academic stress, peer and family dynamics, and mental health.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and focused on building trust with teens and their families. I understand the pressures that young people face, both in and out of school, and I'm here to help them navigate those challenges with compassion and practical tools.
I offer support for anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, relational concerns, and other emotional challenges teens may be navigating. I support teens with ADHD and strengthening executive functioning skills, helping them build the tools they need to stay organized, focused, and confident. I have a particular interest in supporting youth who are gifted or twice-exceptional (2e), helping them navigate the unique emotional, social, and academic complexities that often come with asynchronous development, perfectionism, and high expectations. I provide affirming care to 2SLGBTQIA+ teens and work to create a safe, respectful space where young people can explore who they are without judgment.
I am person-centred and primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SF) approaches, although I am flexible depending on client needs.
I believe in meeting teens where they're at, building a foundation of respect, and working together to develop practical coping strategies that actually work in real life. I also support parents and caregivers with guidance and insight into how to better connect with their teens.
Outside of the therapy room, you will probably find me on the sidelines of a soccer field, cheering on my kids. I speak Italian and a bit of German, and I love exploring Europe whenever I get the chance. I'm looking forward to helping you feel more like yourself and move toward the goals that matter most to you!
