Hello!
I began my career in education in 2012, teaching in a Kindergarten to Grade 4 school. In 2019, I pursued a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, which led me into school counselling roles in both elementary and junior high settings. I have also worked as a Mental Health and Wellness Coach, supporting school divisions in implementing social-emotional learning initiatives within classrooms.
While my primary experience has been working with young children, my graduate training and additional therapeutic work have expanded my experience to include supporting youth and adults across a variety of settings.
I recognize that many people face circumstances beyond their control that can impact their well-being and prevent them from fully becoming who they want to be. My approach to counselling is grounded in creating a supportive and collaborative space where clients feel safe to explore, understand, and reflect on these challenges. Together, we work toward building insight, resilience, and meaningful change so clients can move toward a life that feels authentic and fulfilling to them.
I use a calm, empathetic, and nurturing approach when working with clients. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to my practice, as meaningful growth begins when clients feel safe, supported, and understood. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable throughout the counselling process and leave sessions with a greater sense of encouragement, confidence, and self-awareness.
I begin with a person-centered approach to foster an authentic and collaborative therapeutic relationship. From there, I work alongside clients to identify strategies and interventions that best meet their individual needs and goals. Therapeutic modalities I commonly integrate into my work include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
The areas I work with clients in are anxiety, self-esteem, school concerns, motivation, self-confidence, behaviour challenges, emotional regulation, anger/stress management, family/friend relationship challenges, and grief & loss.
Outside of counselling, I enjoy travelling with my husband, spending time running and snuggling with my dogs, playing the piano, and reading. You can often find me in the mountains snowboarding or camping and enjoying the outdoors.
I look forward to meeting you!
Rebecca
