Hi! My name is Kara and I am a Master of Counselling Psychology student with a Bachelor of Education and specializing in working with children and teens. I have spent over 15 years supporting youth in various roles, including as a teacher, exam accommodation facilitator, and social skills coach.

I enjoy working with children and adolescents because I believe young people deserve to feel genuinely heard, accepted, and supported as they build confidence, develop their sense of self, and navigate the challenges of growing up. Through my work with youth, I have learned that children and adolescents often need safe, authentic adults who are willing to listen with curiosity and without judgment.

My goal is to create a warm, safe, and welcoming therapeutic space where individuals feel accepted, connected, and comfortable being themselves. I bring openness, humour, and calm into my work, with the hope that therapy feels approachable rather than scary. I am especially passionate about supporting youth as they navigate anxiety, stress, school and academic challenges, social skills, friendship and communication, grief and loss, and life transitions, such as moving or family changes.

I practice through a trauma-informed, person-centred lens and draw from modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I believe that when young people feel safe and heard, they can begin to better understand themselves, build coping skills, and make choices that feel authentic and meaningful to them.

In my personal time, I enjoy watching documentaries, listening to audiobook memoirs, and spending time with my family and friends. I have always been an animal lover and spend lots of time hanging out with my two cats, Coco and Maeve! I also love being in nature, camping in the summertime, and playing cozy video games.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Kara
