Hi - I’m Iva! Growing up can be a lot. There’s school, friendships, family, relationships, expectations, figuring out who you are and sometimes carrying things that the people around you may not even know you’re carrying.
If life has felt overwhelming lately, you don’t have to come into therapy knowing exactly what’s wrong or having the perfect words to explain it. We can start wherever you’re at.
I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent children and teens, including those with ADHD and autism, as well as young people navigating trauma, anxiety, overwhelming emotions, relationships, self-esteem and difficult life experiences.
I bring over a decade of frontline experience supporting children, youth, adults and families, including individuals with diverse disabilities and communication needs. For the past five years, I’ve worked extensively with children and adolescents impacted by sexual abuse and complex trauma. That experience has shaped the way I approach therapy and taught me that there is no single “right” way to think, communicate, cope or experience the world.
When we meet, you don’t need to know exactly what to say and we can go at your pace. There’s room for hard conversations, laughter, creativity and just being yourself.
For me, trauma-informed therapy means that you are never just a diagnosis, a behaviour or the hardest thing that has happened to you. You’re a whole person with strengths, interests, relationships, hopes and a story that belongs to you.
And if you’re neurodivergent, I don’t want therapy to become another place where you feel pressure to hide parts of yourself. I want to understand how your brain experiences the world, what feels difficult, what helps and the strengths you already have that we can build on.
Above everything else, I want you to know that coming to therapy doesn’t mean someone has decided there is something wrong with you.
You don’t need to show up as the best version of yourself. Just show up exactly as you are.
And because I think it’s only fair that you know a little about the person sitting across from you, here’s a little about me too. Outside of the therapy room, I’m happiest when there’s a little adventure involved. I’m a big fan of hiking, snowboarding, wake surfing, travelling and my dog Titus is one of my favourite adventure buddies.
I look forward to meeting you!
Iva
