Amanda Skwarok

Registered provisional psychologist, certified teacher

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

My name is Amanda and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and degrees in Elementary Education and Fine Arts. I have experience working with children and youth from varying backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs from ages 6 to 18 years old.

I work with teens & young adults on a range of presenting concerns such as anxiety, depression, body image concerns, eating struggles, gender and sexual identity, friendship repairs, school struggles, struggles at home, self-esteem and self-confidence, and much more.

I provide an eclectic, humanistic approach to my counselling that incorporates my areas of training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and even Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). I also provide the option to integrate art and creativity into our sessions.

My personal interests include my rescue dog June. She is a 4 year Anatolian Shepherd Cross and I am currently looking into certifying her as a therapy dog. If you have a pet, of any kind, I would love to hear about it and see pictures! I also enjoy all things outdoors such as walking, hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, paddle boarding, kayaking, skiing, and travelling the world. I have been to over 20 different countries and still have plenty more that I want to see!

As a creative person, I love to listen to music or make my own. I play guitar, ukulele, saxophone, and drums and also engage in artwork such as sketching, coloring, or painting. I love to garden all year round, some say I have too many plants but you can never have enough in my opinion.

I look forward to meeting you.

Amanda
